CHANGING HARDWARE: PULLS OR KNOBS...

Want a big impact for not a lot of money - change your hardware. Whether on your kitchen cabinets or a favorite piece of furniture, there are so many options to add new life without breaking the bank.

Start by determining if you want a knob or a pull.  Its really a matter of preference when adding new hardware where there is none.  Most important when switching out existing pulls - measure the distance between the screws to get the right fit. The most common is 3" but that can vary.

In the kitchen, determine what finish you want to use:  Nickel, Chrome, Brass or Bronze. There are many color variations within each finish category - usually satin, brushed or antiqued. In recent years, the big trend was towards ORB or oil-rubbed bronze but happily brass is making a strong comeback. I've always loved Brass! (FYI, see the post on Interior Design Trends for 2013.)
Satin Nickel

Brushed Bronze

Oil Rubbed Bronze
Antique Silver

Of course, the styles vary as well. Whether your taste is MODERN and CONTEMPORARY...

Or very TRADITIONAL...

Or somewhere in between aka TRANSITIONAL...
Or you even WHIMSICAL...

There are many colorful options as well made from glass, porcelain and ceramic.

The selections available are almost limitless. So whatever you decide, CHANGE IS GOOD! Have fun with it...

Peace and Blessings,
Tammy

NEW DESIGN SERVICES: e-DESIGNER and ROOM REFRESH...

Over the past few months, I've done some informal research looking for ways to improve my ability to service my clients' needs. In response to several inquiries, I am happy to introduce two new services:

e-DESIGNER and ROOM REFRESH

e-DESIGNER
The e-DESIGNER Service is an efficient and easy way of decorating your space on-line. You can implement the design at your own pace, eliminating the need for time consuming in-house meetings and the costly process of product research and sourcing. You will receive a design package complete with an inspirational mood board and a shopping plan along with fabric and paint swatches.  We will include any helpful DIY tips and budget friendly ideas to complete your design.

ROOM REFRESH
We can help breathe new life in your room with ROOM REFRESH. This service includes a home visit and consultation where we will analyze the space and its needs. Using what you already have, we will transform the room using space planning, styling tips and lots of creativity (and maybe a little DIY). Afterwards, you can have what will feel like a whole new room.

Check out my website for details on how to get started, just in time for the holidays. Here's my way of helping everyone get the beautiful space they deserve...

Peace and Blessings,
Tammy

LIVING LARGE IN SMALL SPACES...

Living with small spaces is not just relegated to city dwellers.  Sometimes a room has to serve multiple purposes in suburbia as well.  Here are several rooms where the design makes the most of the space available whether its...

an office turned guest room thanks to a murphy bed,

or accommodating an entire family in a shelter,

or sleeping and living spaces separated by a moving wall,

or an office in a loft

or an outdoor space,

or a closet turned office space,

or a multi-functioning studio apartment,

or creating a bar for entertaining,

or an office and family room,

or creating privacy in studio apartment,
Multi-purpose room design by Tobi Farley, Little Rock, Arkansas

or elevating a space for guests and extra storage,

or carving out a space to work and relax,

or just enough room for sleeping quarters...

Here's to living in every inch...

Peace and Blessings,
Tammy
